To me the Kamikaze bombers are one of the eeriest weapons of World War II. The Kamikaze "tradition" had begun with Japanese pilots who equipped normal planes with extra bombs and flew them into allied ships. The Ohka was then built specifically for this purpose. Although it was generally considered a great honor to die for the emperor, the cockpit was locked so the pilot had no way to escape other than leaving this world in a blazing explosion – or drowning in the Pacific ocean.
